The Britco team handled virtually every aspect of this turnkey project including site preparation, foundation and site services. One of the biggest challenges we faced was designing to BC Ferries’ architectural guidelines that would stand up to extremely heavy traffic volume.
To start, we designed the building with overhangs to protect against inclement weather and add a touch of architectural interest. To make the most of the natural light, we installed large, high windows at the front, back and above the doors. Tile covered walls and seamless, heavy-wear vinyl flooring allows for easy cleaning and maintenance. The automatic shut-off interior lights reduce energy costs while metered faucets and auto-flush toilets reduce water consumption.
To help vandalism, we employed heavy gauge metal siding and a secured chase that runs the length of the building between the washrooms. The walk-in accessible chase houses all plumbing manifolding, HVAC ductwork, sprinkler lines and electrical work.
